DAUNTING DECISIONS
The most important issue with players is usually their opponents. Below are the team's with the weakest and strongest schedule's against the run and pass this season.
Best schedule against the run: Patriots, Jets, Vikings
Worst schedule against the run: Bengals, Raiders, Rams
Best schedule against the pass: Raiders, Broncos, Cardinals
Worst schedule against the pass: Falcons, Bucs, Giants
Deshaun Foster- It's not too often that I discuss Deshaun Foster in a positive manner on this website, but this week may be one of his last good performances of the season. Last year, Foster came on strong at the end as the Panthers made a playoff run. While the repeat of that is slim, he does have a nice matchup against the weak Rams rush defense. Expect one of Foster's best games of the year. START.
Thomas Jones- The discouraging part of Jones' season has been that he has failed to get his yards per carry over 4 all season. However, the Bears continue to give him a tremendous amount of carries as they face a really thin schedule. Jones had a great game last week at Giants Stadium, and this week he faces a far worse Jets defense. He should once again top 100 with a score. START.
Jon Kitna- Mike Martz is really a miracle worker. Anyone that can transform Jon Kitna into an elite fantasy QB deserves a head coaching job. He will most likely be the coach of Cardinals next year in my view, but for now he gets to go against their defense. Kitna was awful last week against the 49ers so this Sunday should be a good bounce back for him. START.
Antonio Bryant- Besides the Saints, the one team that has really impressed me this season is the 49ers. Mike Nolan has done a tremendous job this season. They are only two games back of the Seahawks, and they play them this Sunday. Nolan will have the Niners more focused than I think the 'Hawks will be. Seattle has been hurt all season by the deep pass, so I expect Bryant to have a big day. START.
Anthony Thomas- Filling in for Willis McGahee, Thomas turned in a solid 109 yards against the weak Colts rush defense. The Bills were commited to getting him the ball as shown by his 29 carries. This week the Bills play a just as poor defense rush defense as they travel to Houston. Expect another good day. START.
Ben Roethlisberger- The Steelers QB used to be asked to do as little as possible, but he has become one the league's biggest gunslingers this season. While Steelers-Browns is always a tougher game than it should be due to the rivalry, Big Ben should still explode for big numbers again. Look for a game similar to the one the Pittsburgh offense played last week. START.
Ronnie Brown- If dealing with a groin injury wasn't enough bad news, Brown also has to go up against the best run defense in the league when he plays Minnesota on Sunday. It's no given that he will even play, so the wisest choice would be to find another option this week. If Brown doesn't play, Sammy Morris will get the carries, but obviously he is also not a good option this week. SIT.
Tatum Bell- After it looked like Tatum Bell has turned the corner into becoming one of the league's best RBs, the turf toe injury has pulled him right back into the middle of the back. It appears this injury will bother him all season which means more carries for Mike Bell. Considering Tatum plays a pretty tough Chargers defense, it's a huge risk to play him this week. SIT.
Trent Green- It's great to see that Trent Green has returned from injury and will play this week, but the best decision would be to keep him on your fantasy bench. Green's biggest weapon, Tony Gonzalez, won't be playing this week so the Chiefs should rely heavily on the run. Also, the Raiders defense has done a very good job against the pass all season. SIT.
Randy Moss- If his comments didn't scare you away for the rest of the season, I don't know what will. The Raiders have Division II QB's playing, so there is no one to get Moss the ball. He doesn't even appear like he wants the ball that much anyway so there's no issue there. The Chiefs secondary has been playing well, and it's doubtful Moss will break out this week. SIT.
Philip Rivers- Alright, I'm sorry. I made a horrible call saying that you should have sat Rivers last week, and if you listened, you probably aren't reading this anyway. Nevertheless I'll suggest it again this week. The Broncos pass defense is far superior to the Chargers WRs. This should be a much lower scoring game, and I don't expect Rivers to go nuts again. SIT.
Travis Henry- He has been one of the more welcome fantasy surprises all season. Despite being buried early on the depth chart and having to share carries with LenDale White from time to time, on a whole Henry has been a very productive RB. This week against Philadelphia I expect the Titans to be playing from behind which means less Henry. The Eagles defense usually does a nice job against the run so Henry isn't as valuable this week. SIT.
